TRIAD, Area Agencies on Aging and LL Bean are teaming up again this year to collect and distribute coats to mature adults. Eastern Area Agency on Aging will be taking a van load of coats to LL Bean this Saturday to be counted in the total for the LL Bean $5.00 per coat contribution to the Maine Keep Me Warm Fund. Information about the Maine Keep Me Warm Fund can be found at the following web address: http://www.maine.gov/governor/baldacci/policy/KEEPMEWARM_10.23.09.pdf
Last year, the first year of the collection, over 1,000 coats were collected. Eastern Area Agency on Aging set up a coat show room and adults of all ages came in to find a coat, no questions asked and no money exchanged. EAAA connected hundreds of adults with good coats.
This year we have coat racks and a mirror set up in our hallway to make it easier to decide which coat is best for you. If you cannot come to our main office, give us a call and we’ll try to bring a selection to your area. We have over 40 Community Cafés in our four county service region that consists of Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock and Washington counties.
We look forward to another successful “Coats for Mature Adults” drive this year.
